Why Bamboo Clothing?

Welcome to the Zero Emissions Active Gear® blog!

Products made with bamboo fabric are not only extremely soft (some say softer than silk) and more comfortable than your average cotton shirt…they are also extremely good for the environment, too.

Bamboo is naturally sustainable and grows and replenishes rapidly without the use of harmful herbicides, pesticides or fertilizers. According to the Environmental Bamboo Foundation (EBF), bamboo’s growth habits allow it to produce more oxygen than equivalent stands of trees. Planting and replanting bamboo can aid in the reduction of “green house gas,” atmospheric carbon dioxide.

Bamboo Bonus: fresher longer!
Bamboo fabric is naturally antimicrobial because of "bamboo kun" a substance in the plant that helps it fight off disease and insects. The antibacterial qualities make bamboo odor repellent, so the fabric smells fresher longer. It can be washed less frequently using less water, energy and detergent – also better for the environment.

Bamboo is hypoallergenic and its water-wicking ability keeps you dry and cool even on hottest day.
